Great Option for Lower ABV Cocktails
4I am pleasantly surprised by Lyre's American Malt, and I will continue to buy it in the future. It's not a 1:1 replacement for sipping-- it's a bit too thin and doesn't have the same complexity of a whiskey-- but I love it as a way to cut down my favorite drinks. I have been using it to make a manhattan with 1.5 oz rye, 1 oz Lyre, 1 oz sweet vermouth, bitters, and a cherry. This recipe lets me enjoy my favorite drink while maintaining a more even-keel and waking up with the kids at the crack of dawn.

The American Malt is almost
3The American Malt is almost there as far as a replacement for the real thing. I tried it straight over the rocks and it's a bit smokey and fairly complex. I also made a Manhattan that was very good. Instead of Vermouth I used simple syrup, but used regular bitters.

Awesome substitute for whiskey...
5Lyre's has really hit it out of the park with this whiskey alternative and I've tried several. Just remember it's not a replacement for whiskey. That being said, I prefer the taste of this compared to the actual thing, no burn and no hangover. I've started buying it by the case. Thank you Lyre's!

Very Good Alternative
3Great presentation! Now please note. I am a 30 year collector and drinker of Scotch, Bourbon, and Whiskey. This rating reflects a bit of bias. It has an exceptional aroma, smooth draw to tongue, spirited finish. It does need to be used with a mixer, as I found on its own I had too much expectation to be a true Scotch or Bourbon. Mixed, it was awesome and very exceptional!! R/
